Would you rather sacrifce power for durability?Ī. Yours may be at the other end of the scale. Keep in mind that every engine is different is small ways that effect power and economy. Some companys push the envolope for the highest power reading. The question is do you NEED a cat? Its extra weight, extra heat retained after the turbo to work properly, and extra maintance item (damage), PLUS extra cost. Add the diesel tuning module and the combination will be greater than the sum of the individual component power increases. Almost all of the diesel tuning modules on the market are adjustable - even the one installed on mine about 4 years ago.Īn improved exhaust system will assist any turbo engine (petrol or diesel). I'm new to turbo diesels, so any advice is greatly appreciated!Īlmost any decent diesel tuning module (none of the above are actually chip replacments like in earlier Falcon or Commodore) and exhaust will make a significant improvement in performance. The DP Chip holds some appeal due to it being adjustable. The Taipan system has a cat (so it meets Euro4 standards), which I don't believe the Beaudesert one does. The guys doing my aftermarket work want me to go Safari and Beaudesert Exhaust, however having spoken to Kerry, he is getting immense results from his D4D Hilux, running the Chip and a 3" system. Has anyone got a chip and exhaust system running on a new D4D Prado as yet?
